Played my first church gig!

It was fun! I didn't think I was going to start until sometime in September, but on Monday of last week I was asked if I could do a quick fill in for today. Mind you, I didn't even know the songs (had to learn four of them) but I said why not? Learned the songs, got at the church, did a quick run thru (no prior rehersal) and it was showtime!

The last time I played on stage or in a band was in 1996. Thought I was going to be a bag of nerves but to my amazement I wasn't nervous at all. I was told I looked right at home on stage playing my bass.

Kinda cool. Been writing my own thing at home and now I'm helping to make a joyful noise for the Lord!

I'm glad for you! While there is nothing at all wrong with playing for your own enjoyment in the privacy of your own lair, it is quite wonderful when you can get the chance to reach out and enrich other people's lives with the music you perform. Also, playing in such a noble place and for such a noble cause has its own merits.
