    Area '61 s

I just switched the pickups in my hardtail to a trio of DiMarzio Area '61's from the 57/62's that I have always had since I built this guitar.

They are not quite as spanky and sparkly and convincing especially in 2 and 4 - but they do a fantastic job for a noiseless pickup.

I have tried the Seymour vintage rails and they sounded very dead to me.

These just sound like another Fender variation on the single coil - so they are different than those CS pickups that I have tried - but not dead sounding like other noiseless pickups.

Overall - a great choice for an axe that needs to be quiet when gigging or recording...

For more spank and beef in the bridge position, try the Virtual Vintage Solo Pro. It should provide more chime and sparkle in position 2 as well.

I had a set of Area 61 in my Strat clone. They sounded pretty good, especially considering the cost but in the end I prefered Texas Specials hum and all the good/bad that come with them.

You just can't get that singlecoil spank and sparkle from a noiseless pickup. I've had, Seymour, Dimarzio, and 2 types of Lace Sensors, and ended up putting the originals back in my 2008 USA Standard Strat. If you want the tone you just have to put up with the hum, although when I record I use a Boss Noisegate, and this helps no end.

I can't speak highly enough of DiMarzio's Area series of pickups!
I have Area 58's and 61's in several of my HSS Stratocasters and I LOVE them. Plenty of chime and sparkle....and silent as death!!

    HIGHLY recommended!!
Gonna pick up my axe and fight like a farmer!!
