Vintage Spec . . .
.... dont mess with a good thing
looks older than me, I like the neck
do I look like I know what I'm doing?
Very cool looking guitar.
Looks the same age as me.
That is an awesome relicing job!
Nice!!
Right down to the pat pend saddles,
Well done!
looks really cool.
Nice one!
I'll forgive the fact that there were no Flamed Maple necks in '56 because the body relicing is so natural it could pass for the real deal. I think with that much relicing, the neck should be a little more worn overall to match, but minor nitpicking..its a great guitar!
Here's a picture of the fingerboard wear ive done.
Its hard to get a good picture, .... looks better in the flesh.
I think you'll agree, this really does look like a real old one now

Damn.
Wow.
s'all goof.
And i have to stress again, if you havent seen Mikes ageing in person. . . . or Fatboys aged plastics and hardware. . . . or heard Tims Bareknuckle pickups . . . . . I highly recommend them all . . . . . the very best out there, all of them

Thats a perfect relic now with the fretwear.- one of the best I've ever seen. Period.
Flamed maple neck be damned. Hey, it aint a real '56. The Flame is no detriment whatsoever, and it even adds to the virtue of it I think.. A gem IMHO> !
Thanks !
And yes I know, the flame neck was the one decision I made outside of very strict vintage spec, but I just thought as you said, its not a REAL '56..... and im not trying to pass it off as a real one..... so why not have a bit of flame on the neck to just make it that little bit extra special. And after all, its not actually wrong spec wise.
Imagine if one had come off the line in '56 by chance with some heavy flaming on the neck...... wouldnt it be a gem today ? !!!

Yours is a gem, Alexander......there's no disputing that.
A fine looking custom relic build indeed!

Wow is all I have to say! I really dig the neck! Cheers!

That really is way cool. I like the way you got everything period correct incl. the saddles, the polystyrene plastic parts (yes I know most call it bakelite but it is not.....bakelite is brown or black and is made of a different though somewhat similar compound), the electronics....the whole package. Freaking wowza!
I think if Fender tured these out like this they would charge 20 Grand being the suits that they are right now.
Where did you get the Pat. Pend. saddles?

Wow, thanks. I never knew of Crazyparts (and I know a bunch of them). Great stuff. One of a kind accuracy. Fan-freaking-tastic.....and pretty much local considering their global reach (about 300 KM from me)

Crazyparts used to be known as "Whatmamadontknow".
I have several sets of those repro saddles (a tragedy that they don't offer them in gold).

Hi Jake
Glad you are happy with the end result.
Will post some pics of the next build soon, a '59 3 tone burst, then we have a special '58 burst.

Guy with recording stido around the corner from me is original owner of a real '57 that looks strikingly just like that. I should take some pics and post them here.
Best Pat Pend saddles you can get are here:

Just got a set and they're incredible. Nickel plated steel, stamping is straight and proper, etc. A little pricey ($100-ish) but worth it.
Yes.. Mark Foley has just had a load of these in, exact repro! they are great, and will be availible as standard on new orders for my guitars
