One of my students just left. When he first came to me he brought some Coldplay song w/him that he wanted to learn. Now he is asking me about Bucky Pizzarelli, Django, & other jazz players. I haven't force anything on him, but over time I just introduced different concepts & guided him toward more jazz & blues. He's taken to it like a duck to water.

I'm a firm believer that any formal musical education program should also include at least some form of music appreciation. It's always good when a student is enlightened to other possibilities they typically wouldn't experience on their own.
