    Epi Casinos

I considered posting this question on the LPF, but I looked around and didn't see where Epi info would belong.

Are any of the 90's or earlier MIJ Casinos in roughly the same league as the current Elite/Elitist Casinos?

I've seen one that looked like a pretty nice guitar, but I'm not even sure it had a mahogany neck, let alone what the neck profile was like.
I've played a number of MIK Casinos over the years that were pretty nice, some that were toys. Those necks tend to be on the thinner side.
The latest MIC's currently in GC are just lousy.

    Re: Epi Casinos

About ten years ago a friend bought a MIJ Casino -- TB sunburst, P-90s, trapeze bridge. It was a very nice guitar......bright, articulate, easy playing, and very well appointed. I haven't seen him in a while but up until 2006 he was still using it professionally as a stage instrument. I don't recollect what he paid but I'm sure it was well less than half of what a Gibson ES330 would've gone for.

Most of the 330's I see are going for more than my truck would fetch.

I'm not interested in anything vintage.

CAsinos are nice, but I have always loved a good Rivera - and got to play a Jorma model once.

This is not that one, but a e - P90 model....

That looks like the guitar I posted a link to a month or two ago. It was from the U-fix ebay seller, with a cracked headstock.

I'm looking for a slim hollow.
Something like a Casino or a Starfire II or III.
Casinos are more plentiful, but I finding there's a lot of variation out there.

    2005 M.I.K.

+ well made, played very nice, top notch workmanship

    - feedback is an issue / PUPs are not Gibson quality

we play loud enough it was basicly unusable for me

My tech friend upgraded a Les paul for a guy who told him to keep the original 70's Gibson pups. He wax potted them and gave them to me - I installe dthem and that be-otch screams! No squeal issues, ulless you squeeze them out!

    This is the Jorma model.

With the big HB's, maple center block and Bigsby, it's getting far away from a Casino.

    Re: Epi Casinos

Jorma used to play an ES-345-stereo back in the JA days. Both he and Jack went with Epi models, I think, to give their fan base affordable instruments, rather than the typical money-grubbing that goes on with sig instruments.

Split blocks would have been nice, rather than dots.

    Things to make them louder

    Re: Epi Casinos

(I didn't get to play his, but was turned on to it by a guy that plays with him sometimes....there was a local one for sale about a year ago - but even though it wasn't real expesive.....times were tight and being mostly a bass guy, I don't deserve a piece like that.

I would pick one up thnough if the money and instrument were right.
