    Super reverb finally restored

Hey everyone, just wanted to give one last update on the 69' SR I bought. I finally got it all fixed up and ready to go. All new caps and it has been converted to BF specs as well as having the Emi Copperheads and RC's installed. It sounds great. Great hollow (in a good way) but tight low end and clear but never piercing highs. I'm still going to try other preamp tubes but I'm extremely happy as it sits. I had a chance to compare it to my SRRI and was very surprised at the difference. I've always liked my SRRI but the 69' blew it out of the water for the sound I'm looking for. I hope none of the SRRI owners take this as an insult, as always it's just my opinion. The 69' is also a lot louder which I'm sure is mostly due to the different speakers. All in all I'm extremely happy with the amp and would like to thank you guys for all the help.

It should be alot louder, its got over 3 times! the speaker cone area of the SSRI not to mention the wattage difference.
Just for kicks back the SSRI up to the rear of the 69 and plug the 69s speakers into the SSRI and take a close listen. There wil be a inpeadance mis match, but I would love to hear your impressions posted on the difference.

Yeah, the Emi speakers are probably much more efficient than what was stock in there. I have done a lot of work lately with changing PCB amps to hand-wired, and I always find there's a volume increase even when using the same iron. The SF amps generally had beefier iron than the BF amps, though, so that's probably a factor, too.

Anyway, refresh my memory, wasn't this the SR that had the grillcloth put in the wrong way?

I think you misread my first post, I have a 69' Super Reverb and a Super reverb Reissue.

I guess we're all a bit foggy here.

    I suggest a total re-post!
