Bought one yesterday...and I feel very lucky to have found it. In fact, yesterday turned into a pretty interesting guitar day. I sold a 2007 Gibson SG Classic that never really clicked with me around noon, and within 6 hours I had a new Baja Tele in blonde. It was very hard to track one down here in Southeastern PA, but I got lucky and found a dealer who had one. A couple places had the Desert Sand color, which is very nice, but I knew I wanted the blonde after reading the posts here.
I haven't had a lot of time to play it since last night but my initial impressions very much echo what's been said here. The neck is beefy but in a good way, not unlike the neck on my LP. And the pickups sound terrific, I even like the Peter Green type out of phase sounds that are possible with the S1. Fit and finish are perfect - much better than I expected. IMHO, this particular model should put to rest any arguments about the level of quality coming out of Fender's Mexico plant. This is an excellent guitar in every aspect, and I'm thrilled to have picked one up. Some pics here:
