    Did somebody say "red"?

Coupla quickie shots of my CAR '62 Strato-Clone......

MIM '60s Classic Reissue neck with single-line repro Klusons, alder Allparts body with traditional S/S/S routs, all Fender-US hardware including steel trem-block bridge with repro "Patent Pending" saddles, MIJ 3-ply '62 pickguard (slightly "minty"), Fender "aged white" knobs and covers, mil-spec CTS pots and CRL 5-way switch, Custom Shop 57/62 pickup set with standard wiring configuration. A period-correct brown Tolex G&G case keeps the instrument secure.

I'm still fine-tooning the set-up and I might either rewire the bridge pickup to the lower tone control or add a base plate or both. It's pretty bright an' spanky right now......p'raps a skosh too much for my JBL-equipped rigs.

FWIW, I love the Allparts stuff. All the neck I've got from em have been spectacular. Might go for one of their bodies as well next time.

Nice! Coincidentally, I've been eyeing some CAR '62 RIs on Ishibashi's U-Box.

Cool! The coolest thing in that picture is the 15" DRRI in the background though.

    Sure, Mik......http://www.thefenderforum.com/forum/...ad.php?t=40323

An' somewheres else on the TFF I posted a few more pics of it (detail shots). That guitar started out as a CIJ "premium vintage re-issue" -- they're still listed as "available" from the Fender-Japan website......3TSB, LPB, CAR, OWL, an' (I think) black.

Thanks to all for the gracious comments.

    Re: Did somebody say "red"?

Thanks, Curt. I used it yesterday for a small patio party with a few friends yesterday out at a guy's ranch. He jus' wanted to hear some classic '60s rock, Motown, an' R&B toons for his 60th birthday......Wilson Pickett, Eddie Floyd, Tommy James, 96 Teardrops, usual Top-40 chit. We got sixty bucks each plus they fed us pretty good. I used my blonde "Spankmaster Reverb Amp" an' paired with the red guitar it sure sounded schweet. The old guy we got to play some keyboards had an' honest-to-God Farfisa Compact......yeah, they sound chintzy. But "chintzy" is what it was back in the day.

That's a dandy lookin' CAR. Nice amps as well...you've got this Fender thing down pat. I've got a CAR in the works too but man, you gotta stop showing that pearloid bound-neck 'cos I'll GAS bad for one next.

    Re: Did somebody say "red"?

LOLOL! Thanks, Carbonti. How's the neck you've been workin' on comin'......izzit goin' on the CAR body?

BTW, "rumor control" has it that Fender's doon a R/W Eric Johnson edition. Allegedly it'll have a bound fretboard. I might hafta check it out myseff though I'm not sure what radius it'll have.

    Re: Did somebody say "red"?

Hey phantomman - yep the neck is off-gassing as we speak and will be paired with a CIJ CAR '57. Should be ready for final sanding by early November.

Interesting rumour, a EJ w/rw board would be sweet. If it winds up also with a bound board then "where do I sign?"

    Re: Did somebody say "red"?

Surprisingly, this thang does fair-to-middlin' with the blues an' classic R&B stuff as well. Eli warned me that this might happen......
