    This is neat!

    Pricey, but neat.
    A little Fender-Gretsch cross-pollination action.

    Re: This is neat!

I kinda like it... but that pickguard isn't doing it. Nor the no-control-plate thang. Nor the bridge. Nor the hot pup...

Kinda a good idea though! I have my own Gretsch-caster with a tele lead pup, a filter (a Gretsch HS one, not a Powertron) and a Bigsby.

5K is ludicrous for any guitar.

    That's hot!

    5K isn't.

It'd probably be hotter with a DeArmond, and old school tuners.

Yeah, I knew there was something I forgot to mention. What's going on with the tuners?

That looks very cool to me, but the fact that you can only get it in relic'd finishes would keep me from buying one even if I had five grand to drop on such an unusual axe.

Too bad about the relic finish and high price. I love it otherwise.

    It exists.

LOL, good point. Just when I thought relics were as wierd as it gets, it just got wierder. We are really in the realm of the surreal.

Well, it came into existence onlyvery recently, thus if this is meant to imitate an used one, it means that the paint they use is really really really crappy!

    The finish isn't imitating anything.
It's pure fantasy. Image reinforcement. It says, about its MAWG/with $5K of disposeable income/blues-hobbyist owner, "He's raw. He's a roadhouse he-ro."

Sort of like "Wild Hogs" without the socially redeeming, morally uplifiting, feel-good ending.

    Interesting guit-fiddle...

If MSRP is 5k, it can be had for less. But...well...you know.

Is it just me or does the body slightly resemble a Dano u1 with a different pup and tailpiece?

Yeah, I thought the one in that first pic, with the flat black finish, the simple, little bridge, and the funky white pickguard, looked like it had some Danelectro genes in it.

    I thought the same thing.
There's a lot more body visible w/o the control plate and the full guard.

It's got me considering re-thinking my green Tele.
    I could maybe do a 2-mini somethin'rother.

A Tele shaped Dano style guitar would be very cool. With a taped Masonite body, of course.

This guitar has rekindled my interest in putting a set of TV Jones Engish Mount TV Classics in my ES-135.

I bet that was their goal all along.

I'm thinking DeArmond at the bridge, filtertron at the neck.

    Re: This is neat!

A real live DeArmond 200/Dyna in the bridge of a full-scale Tele would be slammin!
Even a 2K would be pretty cool.

But the Kisake (sp?) make-your-own-guitar thing on the USACG site doesn't have any DeArmonds in their pickup selections.
    Plus I have 2 minis.

That would be killer. A tele with two Dynas would be great too. Have you tried a neck Dyna? It's awesome!

Thinking about it, for $5K you could easily get an awesome mid-50s Jet and dispense with all the relic crap and probably still have change for a great amp.

Neo, I agree. But what it will say to anyone with a clue is "He's either a huge poser or he can't take a care of a guitar."

I did not even notice that guard first time i seen it. I really like it, although i would remove the guard and maybe change the tuners. That said I would prob build something like that as a project and save a lot of cash.

Plugged it into a Swart Spacetone Reverb amp. A nice combo.
It might be hard to make anything sound lousy through that amp, but... Holy moly!

Awesome neck. Super responsive guitar. The Grease Bucket thingy on the volume control does cool things to the F'trons.
It'll make any sound, from warm & woody jazz, to mean & kerrangly, to a wide range of twanginess.

I kind of doubt I'd by something this spendy, even if I could, but it was a stupefyingly fun guitar to play.

Here's the thing- at my previous stop, I scrounged up some proper black plastic to make mini-HB adapters for my skinny Ibanez. But after playing this La Carbonita, I'm now very inclined to get the Dremel out and put the mini's in my Tele.
Turn it into a La Facsimilta!

Perhaps the Skinny will get something from GFS instead.
