It all looks kind of cobbled together from odd (not to say peculiar!) parts.

    I'd think about painting it.

Re: Guess what it is ?

In fact, this is a chinese STAGG 2006 paid $150 new.
The gloss finish was aged with steel whool 00000, mechanics passed with a brush and acid, worn made with hamer, cigars, shoe polish, cutter, welding flame, etc...

Neck was flattened and reduced by 5mm width. Pich ups are Seymoiur Duncan. I put a double pick on the neck side because the hole under the front cover was much bigger than the JB style pich up.
And I had to hide a groove made under the plate for wiring with a little plastic plate hosting two switches for pick up wiring selection.

The "F" on the back plate is hand made with a dremel (approximately !).
My inspiration came from observation of many worn guitars, including pictures found on the web. More or less a mix of Pastorius JB and SRV Strat.

I was super happy when profesional musicians played the bass and said "Wow, what a vintage sound" (the bass was not plugged)....
They felt a bit disgraced when I told the truth.
this confirms that it is all psychological !

To be honest, I have marked the seat where the neck is bolted with some words: "this bass is a pure fake built by jlv58 on August 2006 from cheap guitar parts". (just in case it is stolen )
