    Algebra, schmalgebra!
I originally placed the mini by ringing the 24th fret harmonic and marking the body.

I made a cardboard pickguard jig and slid the p'up back and forth, and spun it around in the rout. There were only slight changes.

As it is on all of my Strats and Teles. Time for it to be an Esquire.

    Ha!

That was one of my previous suggestions.
I like Esquires, but I'm not sure I want one though, at least not as an admission of defeat... yet.

It's too far from what I had in mind.

So, the past two nights I've soloed each pickup- removing and disconnecting one and playing the other, alone, through the switch and pots.

The bridge pickup sounds good. I don't love it, but it's a good, basic Tele souind, if a little rigid sounding. But it's clearer w/o out the mini installed. There was a slightly nasal boing to it.

On the neck pickup there's a ridiculous improvement. In the fully forward mounting location, the low E sounds pretty close to perfect/normal. But there is still a slight wierdness there on upstrokes, but that depends on where I pick along the string. I'll try the other location and rotations and see what happens.
It was just nice to hear the attack again.

I may try an inexpensive bridge p'up from GFS (maybe it will get along better w/mini) and get some proper caps for this thing while I'm at it.
