New Englanders - Big Jam coming!!!

Yes indeed, it's jam time once again!

Make plans to attend the Big New England Jam #16!

This is a MULTI-FORUM JAM and many of our friends from other guitar forums will be in attendance!

This event will be held at:
The New England Muscle Bike Museum
    8 Peters Rd, Bloomfield, CT.

Saturday or Sunday, August 30th or 31st, (we haven't decided yet)

Grab a guitar and join us for another one of those crazy New England Jams!

Festivities Start at 12:00 noon and go on til the cops come!

(I know the Bloomfield cops, too; and the museum is in an industrial park so nobody's there on weekends so that shouldn't be a problem).

    What you can expect:
    An outdoor stage area
Host band to back you up
All amps, mics, drum kit, provided. Bring your own guitar, sticks and strings!

The gas grill will be churning out your favorite brazier foods.

Everyone gets to play with a great host band in a very supportive, nurturing environment no matter how skilled or how new you are to jamming.

Have a look at some of the extremely cool bicycles at The New England Muscle Bike Museum! If you've ever owned a Schwinn String Ray or a Raliegh Chopper, you've got to see this place!
    http://www.nemusclebikes.com/

While there is no official "charge" for this jam, we will be passing the hat to cover expenses like food, drinks and the host band. Most people will donate $20 or so.

Limited space will be available at Casa de Junkie for those who need a place to stay - I live a couple miles away from the jam - and for those of you who want to fly in, we're only 10 minutes or less from Bradley Intl. Airport.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

    See you at the jam!!!

This will be a harmonica-free jam, although it is going to be August and outside, so I'm thinking shorts will be permissible...

    Apparently 97.5 miles.

I had to figure out where it was myself.

Aw, come on, ya bozone...even if I promise to only fill in the gaps between the vocals and Mr. Feather's guitar licks??? Eh???

And I don't really want to see Kap'n's legs.

    Hope I can make it...

    yeah, about a hundred miles...

Depending on when you would drive up, I think the Merritt Parkway to 91 North is best. During rush hour, I'd most likely head up the Saw Mill River Parkway to 684 and come in through 84.

OK, I think I'm coming. Is it both days, or just one to be determined later?

Chuck, Mikey, are either of you game for this? Please?!

Although, if GJ and Kap'n show up looking like Reno 911, I'm getting back in my car and driving home. ;-)

The date is yet to be determined, but be assured if you come up the day before we'll have some real entertaining times! I now have a full bass rig along with the guitars and amps (and I think Mrs. GJ is picking up a drum kit for Father's day) so the man cave can be hopping all night long. Last time we also had some steaks on the grill that were said to be pretty decent.

I think I WILL make a weekend of it. Nick, even if we just sit around and play some acoustic guitars - well, it might be fun to sit down and try to write a song together.

Kap'n, I would absolutely love to be able to see what the 5e3 buzz is all about. Plus, I'd like to meet your Gretsch... meeting you in addition to your guitars and amps would be a bonus, too!

I might go out and buy myself a nice pair of short shorts, just so I can fit in...

Mark, it sounded like all bases (excuse pun) will be covered, but our mutual friend who is hosting it would know better. I just got a new bass amp and I only live a couple miles away so I can always schlep it to the jam if need be.

Re: New Englanders - Big Jam coming!!!

did you say schwinns and raleighs, my favorite bicycles in the whole world?

If I had my own car when I was at the swap shed in my sister's town a few weeks ago, I could have snagged a Schwinn 10 speed, with full fenders, book rack, saddle bags. With a registration sticker from 1973. The only thing it didn't have was the horn built into the 'gas tank' on the top rail of the frame, like my old one speed.

I've been getting nostalgic for those heavy, built like a tank and coasted forever bikes.

Oh, and there will be guitars, too? Is that right?

Guitars, amps, sun and fun! I've lived just down the road from this place and never knew it existed... It should be fun. Kap'n I hope it works out that you can make it. It promises to be a good time!

GJ, I just received a phone call last night - think I'm going to have to miss this one. I've got a firm gig request - all expenses paid + $200 to play at the 50th anniversary of a close friend's parents... in Long Island...including plane fare back! It's too good to pass up, esp. since I'm trying to generate the cash flow to 'press' my album. I'm sorry, would have liked to venture out to Casa del Junkie!

I don't hate YOU, Franklin. You were always one of Charlie's best friends on Peanuts. No, I am staying away mainly because I am afraid of clowns. I just said that other stuff to hide my clown-o-phobia.

Three things I fear: Carnies, Global Thermonuclear Warfare, and Clowns. Oh, and house centipedes, but that's for a very good reason.

Re: New Englanders - Big Jam coming!!!

I have no fear of clowns, luckily. But I do fear GJ for sure!

I almost hit him over the head to run away with his Gary Moore Les Paul. Luckily for us both there were too many witnesses at the time. Looking back now I know it was wrong, you shouldn't kill friends for their guitars. But when I was playing it, for a few minutes I almost lost all self control.

We drove by the jam location last Friday - it's gonna be great!
