Questions about upgrading my console/mixer

Since I'm starting to record full bands now in my modest little home studio, I'm finding that my Alesis Studio 32 may not be up to the task. It has 16 XLR and Line inputs, and 16 line outs that are routed to my Delta sound cards via mono 1/4 inch cables.

So I set out to look for a nicer board that had individual line outs per channel, and I'm just not finding any.

Which brings me to a question to which I prolly already know the answer.

Should I upgrade to a mixer that utilizes Firewire output?

If so, is there anything I need to do to my workstation beyond making a Firewire connection available?

I picked up vocals on the DI bass channel.
