    1986 Fender Bullet

My first time at the Pick-up section. With the headlines in the news these days here in New York, I better watch the term "Pick-up".

An ex co-worker emailed me the following last night. I told him I knew exactly where to get the answer for him. Any suggestions?

Hi Bob, I've got a guitar question for you---I have a 1986 Fender Bullet with two pickups(old single coil-two wire). I want two replace them with some newer pickups(I don't want to do any modifing of the guitar body). Any suggestions? It's for my son--he's got the Les Paul with the humbuckers--I would like to get that" fender" sound ! Let me know what you think, thanks

    I would recommend checking out:
    GFS pickups

They are cheap and sound good.

Yup, Jonnda's got it. I've got a bunch of these - nice pickups, especially for the $.

    Yup,

+1 on the gfs pickups. I have the Premium II alnico II pickups and they are great regardless of price!

Small clip of the gfs pickups into a 5e3-ish amp:

The strat is a fender american standard. Hope this gives you a small idea of the pickups.

    Cheers,
    Stephane.

GFS for a nice set of functional pickups that won't break the bank.
    • Are they as good as booteek? Don't know.
    • Are they as good a stock Fender pickups? Depending on the type, they're equally as good or even better..
    • Does everyone like them? No, but the majority of those who have tried them do. There are a select few people that weren't impressed.
    • Do they cost less? Yes, but that's not the point. They sound better than they cost.
    • How is GFS's service? I've been impressed with their service. I have had two orders messed up (of over 10 orders) and never had an issue getting things straightened out in a short amount of time.
    POO DAT!!!

My only problem with them is that the p-90 mounting screws were flimsy and the heads stripped when I tried to install the pickup. True, I was screwing into hard cherry- but the second set of screws I got from the local guitar shop were no trouble to install...

However a crappy set of screws is a small price to pay to get a great deal on a pickup.
