How about a real guitar hero rig, like a real plexi, a recent 4x12 and a Les Paul Standard?

The father should also force lessons on the kid funded by the money and see if he wants to really play the game after 6 months of them.

Yeah, get him started on a real guitar so he can join a band.

That will teach him that smoking pot gets you 'nuthin, erm... apart from 9,000 dollars.

I'd make an offer on Duane Allman's Fender Coronado.

I'm mostly disappointed to learn that Guitar Hero III is so hard to find. I'd been toying with the idea of getting myself a copy for Christmas.

(Hm...looking at Amazon.com's sellers, it appears the Xbox 360 version is selling for a lot less than $9,000 -- but it's still going for about double the MSRP, so screw that. I'll wait until the inevitable day, sometime after Xmas, when the stores are overstocked with the game.)

well, I'd buy a plexi head for 4K, a '71 cab for 1600 and a nice 54 oxblood LP ri with humbuckers, drop a set of Mike Turk MGL (Mark's Guitar Loft)paf clones, 500 K CTS audio taper pots, OIP caps, 50s wiring, lightweight tailpiece, steel studs, and use the rest of the money to buy a TTE Echoplex.

You could certainly be buying some big dog stuff, for sure.
What kind of person would spend 9 Large on a $100 game? More $ than sense, and I bet his kid is spoiled rotten.

Anybody who spends that kind of dough on a game is buying it for himself.

A rich person. We have a mining boom on down here at the moment, and there are a lot of instantly seriously rich people running around at the moment.

    Doesn't surprise me at all.
