    Mustang Switches

I got a '66 Mustang at the KC guitar show yesterday and I have a question about the switches. I know the center position is off. What are the switches doing in the forward and back positions. What makes the tone different?

They're just different on-off positions. However, when the switches are postioned either closest together or farthest apart (i.e. with both pickups on) they will be out of phase. If you slide them both on in the same direction you'll get a normal dual pickup sound.
