    kinmann pups

i can not choose between the kinman traditionaal ore the woodstock
i have heard the blues set and think thy are a bit to fat on the sound.
i play most blues , i've read that the woodstocks are darker from sound than the traditionaal. can anyone give me some advise.

just put the woodstock regulars on my am. delux ash strat and they sound great. thought they might be too aggressive when i ordered them but not bad. the brightness of the ash will make them less dark ( so they say)but they seem very versatile. got them with the k7 solderless harness to bleed in the neck pu. excelent

    Re: kinmann pups

I started out owning every set of Kinman's pups. Now, I've gotten rid of both the woodstocks, and the blues mainly because they sound very standard. The woodstocks are good and hot, but lack finesse. I'm also about to get rid of the traditionals because they sound too normal for me; not enough meat.

I'm looking for something special and distinctive.

That's why I have 2 sets of Hank Marvins... Heheh... it's special enough, and sounds distinctly different enough.

    Listen for yourself here:The Citadel

This track (from the Jamzone) basically features the Hank Marvins in most positions (except position 4 I think...) Should give you a good idea of what they sound like...

If you find that track too contemporary, here it is in blues form:

    Nice playing, demio.

I'm listening, but I don't think it counts.
I've been a lover of real single coils since not being able to get the tone that I wanted out of my Ibanez Destroyer 25 years ago.

Fezz, do you think if you heard two recordings, one made with single coils and one with noiseless pups, you'd definitely be able to say which was which?

I'm not planning to set up a blind test here, I'm just making conversation.

Hang on, see if I can find it.

Fezz, that reminds me, I phased out "jacksgroove," so I need to create a new folder for you on petechimbidis.com. I'll get on that ASAP. Sorry--totally forgot your stuff was there until I went to link to one and it was gone.

Okay, here they are linked from the new site:

    Before--Tele with Vintage Noiseless set

After--Tele with Custom Shop Texas Special set.

Hadn't listened to those in awhile. Still agree...

    ...wha? I'm sorry...you said something?
