New (old) addition to my old strat

This is my #1 guitar for the last 22 years. When I bought it the original pickguard was gone, it had been routed for a humbucker and it was missing an original pickup.
With prices for parts getting very expensive I started looking for the right bits to get it back to the way it should be. Last year I got a greenguard for it. Yesterday the UPS guy dropped off an original neck pickup from eBay. I installed it watching the Sopranos.

thanks. I'm glad to have it.

You'd appreciate this... In the mid 80s I was doing shows with the Beat Farmers once a week. At that time we also did shows with Joey Harris and Paul Kamanski who were The Electric Sons. Joey is still playing the same guitar. A '64 shoreline gold veneer board strat. Paul has a '58 sunburst. I loved the way them guitars sounded and was playing a '77 boat anchor that just wouldn't do the same thing. I got a reissue and started shopping for a real one.

Next week I'll be playing this one, and Joey will, undoubtedly be playing his at the B.U.T.

Was just the guard routed, or the body too?

    Very nice.
    Cool story too.

The guard was long gone. I played it with a 1-ply guard 'til I did get one of the early Chandler Celluloid guards. I regret selling it last year... This gaurd has the on crack at the neck pickup screw and is shrunk...

    Here's Joey's:

    And Paul's:

He's got a boat anchor Goltop Deluxe.

He played my '68 goldtop and freaked out. He was suprised at how light and strat-like it is.
