I have a Boss GE-7 EQ Pedal and a Korg AX3G that are currently unused. The AX3G is great for cheap effects/cab simulation for recording at night, but my amp now has DI, so this has lost some of it's appeal. Though, you can get a good clean sound with it, and the effects are fun to use, once you get used to setting them up.

In the Core pedalboard/case with the built in mic stand (very cool), the signal chain goes:
AKG wireless receiver > Arion Tuner > modded crybaby > Line 6 Crunchtone > Marshall Bluesbreaker clone I built called the 'Ballbreaker Blues' > Microvibe > Boss CEB-3 chorus (works fine for guitar) > Danelectro Fab Echo (slapback) > Ernie Ball volume pedal > DOD 250 clone (I built w/ mods I call the 'Tone Pig') > amp. The Fender switch is for the channel switching on the HRDx, so it's not really signal chain, though it lives on the board.

Eventually, I plan on replacing all the commercial built pedals with ones I make from scratch right down to etching my own circuit boards and the printing on the cases. I'm also building my own power supply for the whole thing with a Weber transformer pushing 9 separate isolated and regulated 9vdc outs + a 12vdc for the wireless to eliminate the wart I have to plug in now. At the moment, I'm powering these effects with an old (and I mean OLD) Big Jam power supply with 5 outs and custom made (ok, home made) power cables.

I find that by running a slight drive after the Microvibe, I get a more creamy Vibe sound than swirly. More Trower, less Beatles. This setup with different drives before and after the modulation effects give me both options.

The Core pedalboard/case has a built in mic stand that stashes in the removable cover. I just didn't pull the cover all the way off or set it all up to take the picture. The case is light weight and seems ok for bar gigging, but looks tougher than it really is. An airline luggage monkey would trash this thing in a heartbeat. Does fine in my own trailer with me handling it. The built in mic stand is surprisingly nice with a boom and mic clip included in the $129 price. The base that the stand clamps into is all steel and seems very stable under stage use. Sure makes setting up a breeze.

100% Fulltone effects. Once I discovered Fulltone, I actually gave away my collection of Boss and Digitech effects. I haven't tried a Fulltone effect I haven't loved yet.

But, the Fulldrive I tried DID sound amazing...

I've owned a bunch of Fulltone items; DejaVibe 2, Supa-Trem, Soul-Bender, and Fulldrive II.

All of them have excellent quality of sound, but they sound a little polite to me. A lot less edgy than I would like.

I've always found Mike polite, infomative, and I've even had friendly email correspondence conversations with him at 3AM. I understand that's not everybody's experience.

And while Fulltone products may have seemed expensive when they were introduced, they retain their value well. And you can buy a brand-new Fulldrive for something like $160 on ebay these days for a handmade unit with boost, true bypass switching, switchable flat mids/full mids/comp-cut. That's less expensive than Ibanez' made-in-a-factory TS-808 reissue.

I think by taking that viewpoint, you're cutting yourself short. A quality set of effects, to me, is just as important as well-made guitar and a quality amp. All aspects of achieving what sound you want to project are equally important. I can play alot of material with just my guitar and amp alone without the need of any effects and the sound/tone produced is exactly what I want. But the rest of the time a decent effect pedal makes all the difference in the world. Yes, effects can get expensive, but nothing worth doing or setting a goal for is ever really inexpensive.

As for the Fulltone products, my experience is if you really break down their quality:cost ratio, they're a bargain compared to most anything else out there. And I was someone who for years swore by my Boss/Digitech/Dunlop combinations.

Bottom line in my view, Rome wasn't built in a day. It's better to save and buy the better gear over time, than to spend less now and buy the, well, let's just say not-so-better gear.

I love those old-school digital devices. Sometimes they screw up in the most unpredictable ways and give cool, tweaked sonic textures.

The A side goes into my tuner
From the tuner, the signal goes to my talk box amp. The tuner acts as a noise brake for the talk box. With the tuner activated, no signal goes through to the talk box rig. Without having the tuner in front or with the tuner shut off, a small abount of bleed occurs and the talk box mic will pick up slight guitar noise and put it though the PA.

Out of the B side of the ABY, I go into my Cry Baby, Jeckyl and Hyde, TS808, Arion SCH1, BYOC phaser, then into an old 80's Boss 1/2 rack space Digital Delay (also velcro'd to my board).

Generally that's it if I'm running one amp. Sometimes if I'm looking for a particularly clean tone, I'll add another ABY in front of everything and run the A side though a Twin all by itself. The B side will then go through my Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve and the effects chain.

Wide Awake, is that the $100 pedalboard that comes in the soft case with the power supply on the bottom? I have been thinking about getting one of those; I have a very similar chain of pedals that I use and didn't know if they would all fit...

I use a Boss SD-1 => TS9 => CE-5 => GigaDelay plus a footswitch for my Vox amp, and I have yet to add in the Boss Bassman pedal I have, plus I'd like a pedal tuner. Looks like all that will fit.

Things fit ok - My DD-20 sort of hogs some room, and the power plugs could have been a little shorter or angled, but other than that, it's a nice board. They have them double sized also. The power supply has worked flawlessly. I've got the pedals stuck on with velcro, and I just toss the board in the case and I'm off. It's got a pretty decent sized pocket on the front also. Here's a couple more pics of the case.
