I shot this old Kay a few months ago..
The owner took it into a local shop and they GAVE HIM $1000.00 FOR IT...
He was going to leave it to me in his will. I guess that is over...

It looks pretty groovy, but there's no way I'd give a G for it, even if it had a Rhythm Chief attached to it.
Several guitars in different colors
Things to make them fuzzy
Things to make them louder
orange picks
They gave wh-wh-wh-what for it?
That shop can't be long for this world. You gotta learn the first rule: "buy low, sell high."

dont believe everything folks tell you
When I did research on eBay, they were only going for about $350.00... but this shop is know for being very shrewed. And twisting the deal way in their favor... They either totally blew it, or they know something we don't...
It was not really that great of a guitar...
He took the cash and RAN!! I would!!
He is the security guard in our building, and I've know him for about four years now.. He does not have a lot of cash, but he did come in today with a brand new Ibanez Artcore, which I'll be shooting for him this weekend.
I trust him totally...

Maybe shrewd means crazy on Tuesday.
Was it some sort of Presidents Day thing?

the first guitar i laid my hands on was one that looked exactly like that, only it said "harmony" on the headstock and didn't have the guard...i wish i'd never broke it.
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
Well, the owner talked to a dealer in LA that deals with Kay guitars, and it appears that that particular guitar has something with it that puts in it that price range. Not all of them are worth that much, just this particular model and year.

And it looks damn clean. It's very hard to find those that aren't all top warped and the logos worn off.
1000.00 may seem high right now, but clean examples of anything will always get top dollar. (or over the top dollar)
I totally agree with Wilko..
Let me tell you something. I am a contractor that remodels expensive homes, and in one house I was in; there was an old Kay, and an old Harmony like was mentioned above. Some of those old guitars had Brazillian rosewood fret boards, and a build quality back then like you find in top dollar production USA guitars today. I tried unsuccesfully to pry the guitar from the wifes possesion while her husband was away on a business deal; but they were aware of what they had, and she was having none of my game. I personally would have done $1000.00 worth of work for the 2 that I saw. They were not quite in the condition that the above one is.
