    NorCal Jam March 10th

It's been over a year since we had a NorCal TFF Jam, I think it's time for another one, Ca Bobcat and M-n-M have been busy so I agreed to get it going, Tough for a dumbass drummer to try to do. Saturday, March 10th at the Valencia Club in Penryn Ca. Directions= I-80 east towards Reno, take the Penryn exit, turn right go over the freeway to Taylor road, right on Taylor road to top of the hill, can't miss it. We are looking at a 2:00 to 6:00 timeframe. If the weather is good we can set it up in the back bar patio area and go until 7 or 8. More info as I develope it. drums, keyboard, amps and PA provided, just bring your guitars and party hats, drummers are welcome to

    Re: NorCal Jam March 10th

Hmm, not a lot of interest in the jam this time? Mark has it on his calendar and BobCat and Mark, MnM, will be there. I need to get a handle on how many to expect so I can arrange some food and door prizes. There are several motels in the area and we can arrange to pick up anyone flying in. I need to know in the next week what to look for or I will cancel it and we will go with the regular jam on Sunday.

OK I just looked at a map and I can probably swing that. It would be fun to finally make it out a TFF jam.

Then I'll have to do the Al DiMeola & the Jon McLaughlin stuff..NOT

Some of the Those Neil Young songs (Cowgirl-Down by the River) lend themselves well to jams.

Been dying to try out my Marshall 100w Stack!

Annie, it will be great to see you again, it has been a long time. As it gets closer, anyone who has a few special songs they want to do, just type them in so others can learn them in advance. I will work on getting some snacks from the resturant.

    Re: NorCal Jam March 10th

Is this still on? I'm making plans to be there. I'm an early kind of guy, so I'll be there near 2:00pm

I take it no kids... I'd love to bring Brandon if I could. He can bring his Les Paul.

I only know a few songs.. that are very simple...so here they are...

    Taking care of business
a stripped down version of Route 66 in the key of G.
Tom Petty's Break down.. well, I don't know it that well, but I'm working on it...

I have my "Why don't I have a band blues". straight 12 bar in G.
I also have a new song I may just sing alone, called "Cubicle Death".

I still have to ask my wife though...

oh yes, Sunshine of your love... that's an easy one too.

I have to bail on the jam, I just looked up Penryn on Mapquest, holy crap, you guys are up above Frisco! I thought you were in Kern county, near Paso Robles.

Sorry, if there's an LA area session, I'm all over it!

Yea, it's above Sacramento so it's even a haul from SF. Hate to drive all that way only to find a sign on the door saying TFF Jam Canceled.

    Re: NorCal Jam March 10th

Just got back from the TFF Jam and I want to thank Dennis & Bob for being fabulous hosts, and thanks to everyone I had a chance to jam with (sorry I'm bad with names and can't remember all our names)!

Had a great time. Sorry not more TFF'ers made it out to the Jam, but I guess it gave me more playing time.

It was an extra treat to have been able to jam with Biff Adams & Jimmy who play with Merle Haggard.

Anyway here's a few pics of the jam.

    Bobcat on Guitar

    Re: NorCal Jam March 10th

Jamie, glad you made it over from S.F., Had a great time jammin with you. Those that couldn't make it missed a great jam and some really good musicians. I was glad Bif and Jimmy got on stage for a few songs, it's always a treat to play with those two. Thanks for taking those pictures Jamie, I will fill in the other names. Terry was on bass, the other pic is Terry and JR. both played great . Robin showed up with his keyboard, we also had James up on bass and Mike doing some Josh Turner and Marty Robbins songs. He has an amazing voice. Thanks to the Valencia club for giving all the participants some free drink tickets, and thanks to the people who came back to listen to the great jammin going on, it was fun watching them, rock on, to the great sounds. I may try to set up another one in the fall, depending on the response I get then.
