Hammond Transformers and Homebrew Fender Champ

I am wanting to build a 5f1 Fender Champ as I have a slew of parts laying around my shop. I have everything except the transformer. I am trying to find out which HAMMOND transformers to buy. I get DEEP discounts on Hammonds.

I cant seem to find any info regarding this. I think I have figured out the outpit transformer is the 125se but I am not sure.

Does Anyone have any experience with homebrew?

I've seen a reference to the Hammond 125CSE for champs.

OK, I found it. It's on the STF Electronics web page. He shows a super champ kit with paralled 6V6s with the 124CSE OT and a 270CAX PT.

    I used a 125J. It worked great.

Better than $35 for a PT, and $20 for an OT? The Weber stuff is at least designed for tube guitar amps. The Hammond stuff is supposed to be pretty hi-fi sounding in a bad way.

If I was building an amp, I'd use Webers, Heyboers, or Mercury Mags before I used Hammonds.

The Hammonds are overbuilt. Fine for hi-fi, but not most people's idea of ultimate guitar tone.

Well I trust you so I will go with the webers.

    As usual Thanks Kap'n
