I believe his death was a stupid accident......whether it's because the paramedics strapped him on his back & he choked to death en route to the hospital, or not.....mixing barbituates ( sleeping pills ) and alcohol can be fatal. Miles Davis stated an opinion on this too.
the autopsy revealed no traces of heroin or heroin addiction.
I'm not going to condemn someone because they hauled on a few reefers or experimented with LSD in the '60's.

More than likely Jimi was allready dead by the time the ambulance got there. When Jimi's girlfriend couldnt get Jimi to wake up and noticed vomit around his mouth she called Eric Burdon and asked him what to do he said call the ambulance she said no cause there is hash in here and I dont wanna get busted for the drugs. About 1 1/2 hours went by before she or someone else called the ambulance.
Jimi's death to me was an accident. He took German sleeping pills that looked like the ones from the USA but they were 3 x's stronger doseage. Got sick while asleep and vomited he was so knocked out by the extra stong sleeping pills he couldnt clear his airway and simply strangled to death.
Jimi changed the way we all play guitar and the way the guitar sounds more than anyone I can think of in the past 50 years.
