Amp Crackling on chords - need help!?

I have a victoria 20112 (5e3 Clone). When I play chords it is almost like the sound is prefaced with a crackle. If I mute the strings and play it is worse than if I let the cords ring. Maybe the cords are hiding the noise?

I would suspect bad tubes as it had bad tubes in it when i bought it and the dealer gave me crappy ones to replace those. One was horribly microphonic.

Any Suggestions? If you think it is the tubes could you suggest a reliable source for replacement tubes? that would be helpful.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. Does that sound like a problem caused by tubes?

    Antique Electronic Supply

Tubes could be the culpret. Bad solder joints could be the culpret. And, there are other things to check as well. Because they can be intermittant or only occur when the amp has been on for awhile, those crackles and hisses are nasty gremlins to hunt down.

Do what you can with the tubes and if that doesn't work, you or your tech may have to go in and "reflow" some solder joints to eliminate that as the potential problem.

In older amps, I've found that the carbon composite resisters sometimes go flakey (especially the grid resisters, power filter resisters, and cathode resisters...the stuff that sees the higher voltages).
