    Switch plate mod for Jaguar

I saw a picture of the lead guitar player for Slacktone playing a Jaguar with what looked like a switch plate that had a Tele-style switch instead of the three sliders. The Tele switch was set at a diagonal and looked like a great mod. Do you think that plate was homemade or is there a place where you can get those switch plates? Thnx

Here's a photo that shows it. I'd guess that he just had it made custom from a metal/machine shop.

It's got a custom guard too, to put in different pickups.

I like it. The electronics is one of the things that kill Jags/Jazzmasters for me.
    Several guitars in different colors
    Things to make them fuzzy
    Things to make them louder
    orange picks

Me too... I can't turn down my volume without screwing something up, and I can't get to the same setting twice on a regular Jag/JM.

That's the picture I was thinking of. It's Dave Wronski. Apparently he's a legend in the surf music community and also works at Fender building these guitars. In fact, my Jaguar was actually constructed by him. So, he probably has access to all sorts of cool stuff to build plates and pickguards like that.

Here is mine. Its a Masterbuilt Jag I had made last year. Ive known Dave now for about to years. He influnced some of how this Jag was made. Mine has the tele blade switch. They made the plate in the Custom Shop, but Im sure you could have the same thing made at a machine shop. Dave and mine both have 250k pots instead of one Meg.

I have another Masterbuilt in production, this time in Brilliant Lime green sparkle

Im going with 1 meg pots this time and a couple of other changes so I can get a brighter sound.

Excellent stuff!! I love that guitar.

My thought is to go down to 500K pots, use a no load pot as the tone (so that it can be removed from the signal path like you find in Esquires), put in a cap+resister treble bleed mod on the vol pot, and use a 4-way Tele switch to get that fat "in series" setting (I use it in all my Strats and Teles). I just need to build that plate and I should be good to go.

I know you had your's custom made, but do you know if the switch control cavity in a stock Jag is shallow or deep enough to accomodate a Tele switch? I haven't pulled it yet...my guess is that it's shallow.

that is one BADASS guitsteel man!

PhatTele, maybe you could have a machine shop make one up for you. i had a machinist make me a custom plate for my tele. all it takes is making a blank, putting it on the mill and milling out the slider slot. then have it chromed. maybe a hotrod shop could help you out with it.
