ONly Vintage Gibby that can play with the Fenders-PICS

Heres my Vintage RD- 34&1/2 scale. 10 pounds of solid Maple. Set Maple neck.String thru.I believe this is the only Vintage Gibson, and one of the few older basses that can hang with the vintage Fenders. Thats becasue of the high output Single coils. Such a bright snappy maple tone from this bass, but possible to be mellowed with the bridge/neck configuration of the hot single coils.I dont think any other Gibby had this pup combination , and very few other older basses.Thought I would post pics while I've got the digicam out tonight. . Heres a clip of the warm beautiful maple sound with both pickups on 10( the bridge only gives a snappier brighter sound). .http://www.gibsonbass.com/sounds/1978RDstandard1.mp3. Interested to know how this single coil Gibson sound sound compares to a J-BASS Fender?

That is pretty cool. What's going on with the bridge there? The E is through the body but the others are anchored at the bridge????

That is pretty cool. Of course, I'm partial to my own Gibson bass.
Les Paul, basically like tan LP special...all mahogany, slab body, 2 'buckers...massive low end out of it...
