I am very happy with my van zandt vintage +'s (2 sets). I love them more than my lindy fralin vintage hot set.
Funny how tastes are so different. I think tx specials are not good at all, in fact, I like even the new stock fender pu's more!

I own a new Robert Cray strat that apparently has the vintage custom shop pickups. They sound good to me. How do they stack up and which pickups arethey?
I agree with Badmuddy: Wagner Custom Rewinds "SR" are brilliant p'ups!!!
I also like Lace Hot Golds, and Kinman AVN Traditionals, but...
JimWagner's p'ups are the best single coils I've heard.

Since I last posted, I've acquired the Callaham Strat and a Lentz S.
The Fralins in the Callaham are excellent pickups, but #4 position is just a little too mushy in tone and response for my taste. Nonetheless, they are gorgeous pickups, and I am glad to have them.
The Lentz pickups are awesome, truly. Perfectly balanced in all 5 positions, and #4 is exactly right for my taste. #3 is very rich and dynamic - best I've ever played. I also like Scott's bridge better than any other straight single coil I've tried.
The Van Zandts are still very cool pickups, as were the HD VIntage + set I sold a while back. And the Kinman AVn Blues set still rocks my world big time.
There are a lot of great pickup makers out there right now - I'd love to try Rolphs, Lollar, Wagner and Voodoo.

What's everybody's take on those Fender Noiseless pick ups?
I dropped some in a strat of mine and I dig them.
It is known I sell a lot of Van Zandt pickups and record with them.
I also use and like Rio Grande Stelly's, they are strong w/ good mids, like a GOOD Tele bridge pup.
