I'm working on assembling one right now. Not quite ready for the grand reveal, just yet, but I will tell you that tort is involved!
Alright - here's a photo of the completed body swap Tele project. Took my CV Deluxe body (covered with signatures/messages in Sharpie from my battle buddies in Afghanistan) and replaced it with a proper Fender replacement body. Kept the neck and electronics, etc from the old Tele. I had to buy a new pick guard, pick guard screws and string ferrules to complete the job. That order from StewMac got sideswiped by the big storm last week but also seems to have spent some time being examined by Canada Customs. But it all finally got here.
Finished product:
Goes along nicely with my (not Tele) PJ Bass:

Schweet, dawg.

Thanks Dan!
Now that I've got it back together, I've been thinking....hmmmm, maybe I should replace the neck? The shape is not my favroite and it's covered in a thick gloss. Would like more of a C profile and a sanded finish. Anyways, for another day.
I still have some intonation and action issues to deal with. Do you think I can find the right sized hex key for the saddle height adjustment screws? Nope! I have to two workshops, two big tool chests, have found multiples of all sizes of hex keys EXCEPT for the one I need. I have a feeling it's buried in a road case in my basement somewhere. Yay.
White blond and kinda white (honey)
The blonde Tele actually belongs to a buddy & it's a '64 RI. That thing weighs less than 6.5 lbs & has a certain "crack" to its sound. The pink one is mine & it's just one I built:
Nice! Three styles, too: Esquire, Triple Player and Thinline. Well played!
