Backatcha, OA, but my post does not prove your point in any way.

And your domestic violence thing is the very definition of a red herring fallacy: "Rather than argue this point, here's an irrelevant topic that renders the original discussion moot." I could just as easily say that the problem of domestic violence is meaningless is the face of poverty, hunger, the coming global pandemic. How can you even worry about one guy smacking his girlfriend 'round when the world is in such peril?

You can't dismiss a fallacy by simply claiming it isn't there. Even The White House is having trouble with that these days.

If you want it here it is, but don't say I didn't warn you that almost all of them are lame. Just people who want free tix to a Who show, that's all. Oh, and no one said they had to smash a real guitar. Some of them are just plastic toy ones.

On that note, the radio sation ain't bad. I don't really listen to them much anymore, but they do a good job.

Some of those are pretty funny! Too bad there aren't any live performance clips!
...and on the 8th day, God created the Super Reverb and there was ROCK, and it was GOOD!

So why does El Kabong do it?

Because he wants others to know what it feels like.

I don't recall ever seeing El Kabong actually break a guitar. It seems he whacked a lot of folks, but it didn't break.

Must've been one of those plastic Applause things.

    I think it's a tenor guitar, actually.

Either that, or Mc Graw is the smallest horse I've ever seen.

Kap'n, you always make me chuckle. You're like Johnny-on-the-spot with an apt picture!

I gotta weigh in on this topic by saying that:
It breaks my heart to see those stars
    Smashing a perfectly good guitar...

"I'm gonna find myself a girl
that can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
    In each other's paint-by-number dreams..."

I remember seeing Hiatt on that tour.
Michael Ward ( I think??) did destroy a ratty looking Melody Maker looking thing at the end of the song.
But it was a visual aid for that song, not "Hey, dig my wild angst."
He played one of those big 335-ish Les Pauls, which remained intact, most of the night.

A firend of mine saw him in another town a week or so later. Apparently, they were able reassemble the guitar well enough to play the song so he could bash it up at the end. The Wiley Coyote of guitars.
They must've used rubber cement in the neck joint.

    Re: Guitar Smashing

We're basing this on that fact it has four strings?

In light of the fact that most cartoons have 3 fingers, (with the exception of El Kabong aka Quickdraw McGraw, who has hooves) I think dropping two strings is fair.

    Please, no Django references....

Not to mention that his thumb is elevated quite a bit.

Fretting might be a bit difficult. You think he plays open tuning?

Fezz is right, though. It never breaks. It must be a Rainsong prototype.

Hey, he has a busted string. Whatever he's playing only has 3!

Come to think of it, he probably does play in open tuning, and slide at that. A Horseshoe would make a great steel.

Ward is a great player. I think he plays a LP Signature and a HR Fusion...
Well, it's definately not a plectrum guitar

Ward first came to my attention with School of Fish. Three Strange Days.

I think he takes the bass string off like Keif. It must be open tuned.

    Re: Guitar Smashing

I play in a Who tribute band here in CT and on special occasions I smash one up. Luckily I have a LP copy that has managed to survive a few smashings and can be repaired (somewhat) to be smashed again. I paid $65 for it on fleabay and have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it.

I also play in a Deep Purple tribute and the Strats I use there get quite the workout, but not smashed.

Just giving the peeps what they want.....
