    ANTIGUA STARCASTER FOUND!!! PICS

    http://boston.craigslist.org/msg/186953315.html

I haven't stared at my computer in disbelief in a long time.
Turned up in Boston area, sold fast.

Funny thing is that I have a pickguard for one...and NEVER thought the guitar existed.

This is a truly rare and amazing find!!!

    Re: ANTIGUA STARCASTER FOUND!!! PICS

I've wanted one for years, but decided recently it would go against my 'no vintage' policy...

If I could've gotten one in Antigua, I would overlook the policy. That's just too cool to ignore.

    Re: ANTIGUA STARCASTER FOUND!!! PICS

Sometimes things are rare because when they came out, everyone thought they were horrible and no one bought them, and so twenty years later there aren't any around.

Rare isn't necessarily good. Or even desirable.

Automatically turning dismal marketing failures of decades past into today's collectables strikes me as a little perverse. Just sayin'.

It happens a lot Mark. I once got a letter to the editor into GP by sayin'
the same thing. Some little Electro Harmonix device that was so poor in concept nobody wanted them. The result? Collectors were paying upwards of $1,000 each some 25 years later.

BTW, the guitar in the auction is a (very poor) Refin.

    yeah.

    its very minty.

ive spoken with some heavy collector types and nobodies seen or heard of another.

there was mention on another gear forum about someone regreting selling one a long while ago but i wouldnt be surprised to find out that this is that same guitar.

antigua is my favorite fender color.

Very nice. Some of the antiguas can get this nasty yellowish tint, and this one looks great!

Yeah, they usually look kind of "Key Lime" in the middle and "Avocado" around the edges.

    That is way cool.

Is that the same one mentioned in the opening post?

Is that due to the nitro aging?

I'm not sure, but the CIJ antigua tele reissues have that built-in.
