    OLP Music Man Bass copies...

Are these any good? They're pretty cheap... my son was interested in a 5-string, and the MM3 model caught my eye ($229 on eBay).

Opinions appreciated. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a shop locally that stocks these, so I haven't been able to get my hands on one to play.

My wife's nephew has the 4-string version that he likes. Decently put together, really not a bad instrument for the price.

One thing about inexpensive 5-strings is that the B string often sounds like poo.

I have one. I made a 3 band eq for it, but yoiu can use an EMG BQS eq. It sounds great and the B string isn't bad sounding at all.

I do recommend puting an active EQ in it, it really livens the bass up.

Here's a pic of mine. BTW, I also painted the sunburst on it.

As you know I'm an OLP fan. I don't know much about the bass guitars. I've heard the pickups are not anywhere close to the Stingray, but...

Looks cool -- interesting 'burst. Did you also put the Jazz pup on there as well?

Nice paint job! It would look great on a Harley gas tank too.

Yep. I wanted a hum/single coil combo in it. The only other thing I might do is replace the humbucker with a Basslines or Bartolini pickup. The stock pickup is a bit noisy.
