    tung oiled neck, ideas on headstock?

    I just ordered a tung oiled maple neck. I've used Gunstock oil before and it has a nice amber to it. I was thinking the headstock is going to look pretty white with the blank maple headstock.

    Would I be able to apply finish later on, if I don't like the tung oiled headstock look? Or would I be able to shoot some tinted nitro on there, if the neck was previously oiled?

    Yes. Just apply a coat of quality blonde shellac first. This seals in the oil. Then lightly sand with 300 grit and topcoat with lacquer. Buy a new bottle as shellac has a short shelf life.
