There's a pile of them over at Wildwood too (at least).

I can't quite tell if it's "just" an American Vintage 52 with bigger wire and thinner nitro. But the specs seem the same.

How long do you think they'll be making these for? I really do loik em (from the looks of it, anyway).

Its a 52ri Tele with med jumbo frets and 9.5 radius.

The finish is 100% nitro instead of the 95% poly 5% nitro like a regular 52ri is.

They should make em all like this.

Now I'm confused too. MM and Wildwood say its 7.25" radius...

BTW, Dave's has them as well, but describes the finish as "thin nitro with no poly base coat: like the EJ strats"

All the Teles they list are "Thin Skin(ned)."
Is this one replacing the 52 RI?

If not, will it cost more or less to have less finish?

I know I'm a little late on this topic, but I wanted to comment. I made a visit to MM and got to play several of the 52 tele's and some of the strats. WOW! Really good feel. The frets felt very nice...I was able to get very clean bends all over the fretboard. I'm going to try and snag one of the 52s once my tax return arrives.

How would you compare the '52 to a Nocaster.

I'd have a hard time deciding on one of these vs. a used Nocaster.

I don't have enough experience with a Nocaster to give you a fair comparison report. I wish I did though! Has anyone been able to A/B a Thin Skin 52 with a Nocaster??

Well I have the '51 Nocaster and absolutely love it so I guess I am in the same boat as you guys because I haven't played the '52 yet.......

:-( It would be a nice addition though. ;-)

    Re: '52 Thin Skin??

They should have made some of them with the 9.5" fingerboard radius IMO.

The 52's have a thinner U shaped neck than the No-Casters, Different pickups, and perhaps not quite as "premium" of a piece of Ash.

    Re: '52 Thin Skin??

Purchased my Tele from Wildwood last week.
WOW. Mine is 6lbs 1oz of tone, tone and more tone.

Without question the best Tele I have ever played.

Be warned, they are selling very quickly and if you want one do not hesitate.
