Yeah I've seen some of those old pics up here before. All the history and pictures to go with it is just icing on the very nice, very vintage strat-cake.

Gotta love those early sunbursts. :yay

That's right. He's posted some of the photos on the forum. Wonder why he decided to sell it.

Hi guys, Thought I'd better chime in here! Yes, I am selling #0577 because I can't afford to keep it! My love of guitars has brought me dangerously close to the precipice of personal bankruptcy and as a family man, that just isn't good. In a perfect world, I'd be able to keep it. In this world, no. It is a beautiful old Strat and Bill's pictures are in fact, the one thing I'll miss the most about it. On the positive side, I still get to keep my other '54. I will miss 0577 dearly because it has such a wonderful history and I have become quite attached to it but I made a tough decision and decided to keep my trem stamped Strat. One of them had to go...

    Wish me luck! -Terry

Beautiful instrument, impeccable provenace (love some of that case candy) and you have to be congratulated on the entire auction presentation ~ information is first rate and the photographs detail everything wonderfully.

Very nice. And very impressive presentation. In this day of forgeries and ripoffs, it's great to see such a completely detailed and honest ad. Sorry you have to sell, but family has to come first. Hope you get top dollar and then some for it.

Sorry to hear it Dinobyte. Guitars are only objects, though, family is irreplaceable.

OTOH, you could use that Strat money as a downpayment on this... ;)

    Even more expen$ive.

Wow. I'm vocally anti-vintage, but even I have to say (as a museum piece) that's a remarkable specimen, and I agree that it's the best documented eBay auction ever.

Best of luck to you Terry. You are lucky to have had the Strat and still have another '54. Fantastic job on the auction presentation.

    Re: 1954 Strat.

Just wanted to thank everyone on the forum for their support. Have to have y'all over for flapjacks some time... :chefgreg ... sorry, couldn't resist. I've been wanting to use this smilie ever since I started up on the forum.

Seriously though, I really appreciate the positive comments about the auction. :yay I think that people's responses overall, have been very telling about the current state of ebay sales. Odd thing is, some people will still throw scads of money at a guitar on ebay based on only one tiny, out of focus and underexposed picture taken with an 8-bit Fisher-Price color camera.

    Thanks guys, Terry

You go, dude! I think the whole thing looks fantastic. My favorite pic/feature, though, is the pitted neckplate. Decades of jamming wore that thing out!

I think this auction should set the standard for photographing your item. You should see exactly what you are bidding on. All the info is a very nice bonus. Very nicely done.

Congrats on the sale and an absolutely outstanding auction.

I noticed the buyer also bought a '51 Tele for a little over $50K not long ago.

The buyer is a store. Somebody recently resurrected the famous "We Buy Guitars" name. WBG was a store on 48th St. in Manhattan.

    Re: 1954 Strat.

Hi Guys, Thanks a lot for the support on this one. Good attitudes all 'round I'd say. :yay Even Gravity Jim said something nice about a vintage guitar! I must have done something right! You'd think I'd be clicking my heels on the way to the Bahamas or something but not really. The sale of this guitar doesn't quite get me out of the debt mess I'm in. I will see none of this money, it goes directly past GO where I will not collect $200 and into the bank's pocket. :nicholas Oh well, at least I'm not as stressed out about my debt as I used to be. I will miss that guitar a lot, it was really cool and more importantly, it played wonderfully with its auto-pilot neck. :lhg I still have one more vintage guitar left though! Thanks again guys.
