    "Grunge" distortion pedal-

My son came home w/one of these a while back. I had to restrain myself from too much eye-rolling & railing over the corporate takeover of an entire genre of music. Today I plugged it in just for kicks & I kind of liked it. It might even be useful. I must have passed over a hundred of these things in my pawn-shop wanderings & now I'm seriously thinking about purchasing one.
Does anyone else out there use one? Comments? Observations?
    I won't laugh, I promise.

Is that the bright orange Digitech one?

If it is I fear for you! That's one of the worst peadls i've ever used imo!

It's kind of a silver/purple crackle paint job. I don't know if it's DOD or Digitech.

    This one?

The orange one was, at least a long time ago, the Classic Fuzz.

I gotta say I appreciated Alice in Chains to some extent but otherwise thought the whole "grunge" genre/movement/whatever was utter crap. Just my opinion, but that's why you're reading this post, isn't it? Utter crap.

However, I'm sure your "Grunge" pedal could be the cat's ass and I sure hope it is. Carry on... nothing to see here... I'm a little punchy today...

I haven't heard it, and I've always kinda looked down on digitech stuff, but after getting a bad monkey, my minds open to more of the digitech pedals. Besides if you end up hating it after a month or two, you're only out 40-50 bucks. I can live with that ;)

I've got the Digitech Synth Wah pedal - basically just to make whacky sounds. What a pedal! There are soooo many crazy noises in there. I seriously love that pedal a lot though I use it very sparingly.

I have an original DOD grunge. It is a fun little FX. Playing with the controls I can get some tones that are akin to a Rockman distortion tone on steriods. Good for high powered versions of "more than a feeling".

It looks verty similar to that except it says DOD on the switch & the switch is of a little different type. I'm looking at it right now & that one in the picture looks to have a separate hinged piece of metal to act as a lever for the switch. This one in my hand merely has a black plastic square for the switch.

I think DOD/DigiTech is trying to phase out the DOD name, since it's got a pretty bad rep.

So if DOD goes out of production does that mean that they'll suddenly shoot up to $200/pedal on ebay?

I heard a story once about an original Gibson Flying Vee that was hanging from the ceiling of a music store like a model airplane. It was a joke among the employees after that particular design tanked.

I liked the "Grunge" era of music. Lots of cool tunes and groups. Just the type of music scene for a young college guy like I was back then.

Who knew? In doing a little reading I found out that the early DOD versions w/the "BUTT" & "FACE" label (instead of "LOW" & "HIGH") are sought after.

Ya, some of the DOD FX line can fetch a small sum. The FX13 Gonkulator seems to have a bit of a following. The Juicebox that Stratoclutter mentions is creeping up there too. Not much of a following, but the Pumpkin colored Classic Fuzz is a sweet little effect.
