I want to try a new vocal mic

This may not be the place for this thread, but I thought somebody could point me towards a good mic in the $200 price range.
Been using SM58's on stage for years but thought something might be better.

With your price range, try AKG Dimensions. I have both 58's and AKG's and prefer the AKG's. Just better sound quality in my view. Several band mates have switched once hearing the difference. Give them an audition, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Just out of curiousity, have you tried the Shure "Beta" 58? Big improvement to the cardioid pattern and more sizzle too.

The band's lead singer is now using a Sennheiser E935. I like it a lot. Worth checking out.

I've been using a Beta 57. completely different than an SM57 or 58. It blows them away in spades. I think you can still get one for $140.

I'm using AKG Emotion D880s A pair with cords cost me $99 on ebay
Compares to a Sure SM58, but I think the AKGs sound a little more clear.

Yes, It is a fantastic mic. It really is a much better mic than the regular 58. Its way easier to get a good sound without having to spend much time dialing in your sound. It is totally worth the money.

I heard people say that some "expensive" mics and some Sennhiser are not as forgiving as a standard AKG mic. Is there any truth to this? If so, then the voicalist's type of voice, power, style, may need to be taken into consideration.

List is around $850, published prices on the net bring it down to around $600.

Sounds like I need to make a call....
