Fender's American series is not particularly "traditional". The pickups, switching, hardware, fretwork, fingerboard radius, etc. are all modern spec. Mostly the same goes for the MIM Standard series (although they have vintage frets and basic switching IIRC). The difference between the two is in quality of components, general finishing, choice of colours, choice of maple/rosewood board (Teles), cost of manufacture, case, etc. The American is "better" than the MIM if you want those features and are prepared to pay for them.

If you want traditional, it's between the American-made custom shop guitars or the MIM Classic series. The American is "better" (authentic finishes, better pickups & hardware, a case) but you have to pay for it.

Order a Fender catalogue and have a browse.
