And has a zero fret. Look at the bridge, specifically the Pup mounting screws. Look at the neck Pup placement. The neck. The headstock...Yeesh.
Someone is going to get screwed. It's a little over $500 right now.
Whatta deal!

"This guitar screams vintage vibe."
It screams somethin', alright. Jebus, will these idiot clichés NEVER die?
And you're right, somebody is about to get reamed.
A Tele that had a truss rod cover? Of course the non original switch tip is going to ruin the deal.
Looks like an early 90's MIM toploader body who knows what the neck is.

Just tried emailing ebay, but it states that the item number is invalid, and won't let me forward the details to them.:toobad

I just reported it to ebay as a fraud. I'm a firm believer in Caveat Emptor, but I've learned that someone else emailed the seller and received no response. Based on that, I think it's safe to say the seller knows exactly what he has. (or doesn't have) And if not, then I'm helping to save him from himself.

That's a really nice fitting pick guard too.... what a POS.....
Oh, it "screams vintage vibe," alright but if you listen hard closely, it kinda' mutters, "I'm not quite a Tele." :toobad
Whatever it is, I really wouldn't mind finding it at a flea market and giving it a strum or two. It's just wacky enough to catch my eye.
Needs a Bigsby.

If one of the bidders has other items for sale you can contact them that way. I just alerted a guy to a couple of bogus '79 Strat p'ups that way. No phtots of the underside, staggered poles, no date code, shielded cable, wrong mounting springs and the mounting screws were not only different diameters but different lengths.

Hope so,or he's chucking money away.:toobad

It gets worse. Here's his 'Daddy's Tele' as purchased on ebay.

Cool Johnny64.
Boy that looks familiar.
How do people like this retain a 99.3% satisfaction rating?

It's a real shame, isn't it? But the people who bid on this stuff are clueless. Some guy wins the guitar for $500, is convinced he stole it at that price, leaves positive feedback. By the time someone points out what it is, it's too late. The feedback can't be retracted or changed.Originally Posted by Tele-Bob
If anyone else sends an email, they should include a link to this thread so the bidder can see what's happening. If I got an email like that, I might think someone was trying to get me to retract my bid so they could get it.

So pizzlewip got it for $150, decided the trussrod cover is the sland, and now he ma get away with flipping it for a tidy profit with that daddy myth.
What a weasle.

Hey everyone. I'm the person with the high bid. I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who has contacted me on ebay. I'm currently working on getting the bid retracted or the item pulled.
Michael:
YEAH! Welcome to the forum, and I wish you luck getting out of the deal. Stick around here awhile, these guys can bring you up to speed while you're looking for a Tele. And I'm sure we'd all like to see you get a real one!

Should have a skunk stripe, too.
Welcome michaelf!
Sorry we all had to meet under such circumstances. Hang out for a while and learn about this stuff like we all have. There are some very sharp people on this site.

Michaelf, Glad to hear you are getting out of the deal. I can honestly say I've learned everything I've wanted to know and more about teles from these guys. Please stick around.

Good luck... It's a shame that someone with that good of a feedback rating would be pulling a scam like that.... what a jackass.Originally Posted by michaelf

Problem is, our prejudices are more important to us than our sense of music. What if it's the greatest playing and sounding Tele style guitar ever built? Then it's a bargain!

Why don't you call the seller and offer him $500 just in case it's a great guitar?
