    Check out

maybe this is what he did to "make" the capacitors.

or did he actually make the caps like they do here:
    http://www.scitoys.com/scitoys/scito...ade_radio.html
by rolling paper and aluminum foil together.

    That's very cool Jonnda.

25 years ago I worked at Unviersal Voltronics and used to roll my own high voltage capacitors. I'd take an 8" or so, diameter phenolic tube, about 24" long, roll up some mylar and cap it off with a couple 18" corona rings and voila! a 75kv capacitor. Seeing as how they were almost as big as a guitar, they weren't very useful in that applicaction, and I haven't yet heard of any vinatge market for them.
If you're bored, you're not groovin'.

Honestly? Don't get a chain near that thing. Age it by playing it. It has a nitro finish, so you'll be putting unexpect nicks in it in no time.

My humble entry...late 80's warmoth alder body, Birdseye compound radius neck w/rosewood board, Seymour Duncan actives and (state of the art at the time) floyd rose / kahler "spyder" trem w/edwards locknut. Finished in Nitro:

jpagey: if you "relic" that superbly finished instrument, I will come find you and punch you one right in the snoot.

Seriously, it's gorgeous. Leave it alone, play it a lot, let it grow into deeper gorgeousness on it's own. You'd be a chump to do anything else.

Yes..Don't do it! That is a lovely looking instrument. Let the years take their own glorious toll on it.

That's basically how I made the capacitors, not that difficult, just getting the right size stock capacitors is the tough part.

You guys are hilarious. But right, I suppose. I have spent alot of time with this guitar this past week and it's really growing on me again.

Sometimes I sell my clones short as they are "parts guitars" but then after playing them I realize how great an instrument can be with all of the "right" parts.

But now I'm itching to put together a '69 clone...
