    Worth every splinter

It has taken him years, but Udo Haase is nearly done with his full-scale wooden replica of the legendary 1954 gullwing-door Mercedes 300 SL. Haase assembled the roadster using only pine and glue in his garage in Kiel, Germany.

    Sland-o-licious!

That dude looks way too happy. It must be the wood glue. Gotta get me some of that.

    Re: Worth every splinter

I had a neighbor that had one of those - kept it in his driveway while he was restoring it. Every morning he would walk his Great Dane down the street and his dog usually did it's business in my friend's front yard. My friend got a shovel-full of the offending (massive) pile and dumped it on the neighbor's front porch, rang the bell and when the neighbor answered it, he told him "From now on, any time I find one of these in my yard it's going on the hood of your car."

He started walking him in the fields down the street...

Question: Do the doors open and close? Or does it always look like it is going to take off?

Not to top a Benz, but this is the finest automotive model ever created in the history of the known world.

    Greatest Model of All Time

Somewhere a video exists of the creator reaching in to turn the key, crank the V12, and watch the tiny gauges work while he presses the gas pedal.

Yes, it actually runs and drives, and, more incredibly, its creator actually fabricated everything from the rubber tires to the engine, chassis, and suspension. :bug :bug :bug

That is amazing. Apparently, the new site (follow the link on the site listed by doc above) will have video footage and sound clips very soon.

I'd take over the HUMMER in the "Happy Jack" commercial.

p.s.: Has anyone else found it funny that they named an Army troop transport vehicle after a blow-job? What? Was BUGGER already taken? The Army must still be smarting over the Village People's slight, "In the Navy." I see you one homoerotic anthem and "up" you a hummer. Take that, cabin boy. :hee
