Markie like!
Wasn't he in that movie "Rock and Roll High School"?
He plays in Fresno a 2 hr drive. I gotta go see this guy.
I've seen video of him about a year ago. Pretty amazing. He's only 14 years old. As soon as he stops copping Stevie note for note and finds his own style, he's going to be one kickass guitar player.

Here's another young pup. Randy is from right here in Binghamton.

This Trey Tosh guy is 14 has only been playin 2 years. I think he is an awesome player for as young as he is. Im glad he is doing SRV most kids his age hate blues.
Thanks for the heads up on these young uns. It's gonna be interesting to see what they're playing when they're 25, eh?
I was floored by an acoustic guitar/mando/banjo picker named Ryan Holladay (?). Doubly floored when I learned he was just 13. (He also sings pretty darned good for a kid.)
The freshness and creativity of the arrangements and versatility on each instrument smacked of "Maturity". Influenced by his Pappy? Sure. Doing it on his own? Pretty much.
I just hope they keep their heads and pants on. Seen so many "fry" in their late teens-early 20's.
As for SRV clones: if that's what they need for inspiration to get started, then Hooray! He revitalized "Da Bluz" when it was darned near daid. Know what I mean?
All Bluz People stole, borrowed, and plagarized. (Me included.) It's part of the tradition, I think.
Shine your light.
It's probably not something I'd go and see, but I couldn't play even close to that well two years in. And he's doing it in front of a crowd. Good for him, I'm proud for him. You've got to start somewhere, we ALL copied somebody at first (but I didn't sound so much like who I was trying to cop).Originally Posted by Marcondo

I saw him at the upstate metalfest. Not his crowd but god damn that kid can play! He needs to work on song structure but I was blown away by him.Originally Posted by Guitar Ray
The first time I saw him he was about twelve and did a kick ass cover of Beck's Freeway Jam. Great chops, but I would agree on the song structure comment. I think that may be something that just needs time to develop though.
What if a 25 year old guy who's only been playing guitar 2 years comes out and plays some SRV. I don't think people would be quite as impressed. Why not? Because it tickles peoples sense of the ridiculous to see a 14 year old kid play like that. The 25 year old guy who's been playing the same amount of time will just look like some guy who learns fast, even though he's still not very old and has a potential career ahead of him just like the kid does.
Don't hate me. I like it here.
seems very impressive.
I'd rather see another srv impersonator anyday than another one of these new punk rock headbangers.

The kid is cool. I watched just two of them, but he plays great, and can do complex stuff while he sings. I can't even begin to do that.
Plays great for anyone at any age, and you have to give him credit. at 14, he a frontman for a bunch of real musicians. Not a bunch of young kids.
