    your thoughts about this body

Take a look at this and offer your thoughts

I am just learning more about Strats, but aren't American Strats equipped with the 2 point tailpiece, rather than the 6 point vintage?

Any thoughts on the origin of this body? Looking at it for a possible project.

There are so many different versions of American Strats it's ridiculous. Got to www.fender.com and just look at all the models Fender produces based on the Strat body shape. Then go to www.mrgearhead.com for a thorough look at the history of models of Stratocasters and their exact options, wiring variations and parts lists. There are just too many choices!

According to the Fender website, the Deluxe Player Strat does use the 6 screw vintage style bridge.

I don't think that particular model is USA made though. The retail price is pretty reasonable for a guitar with that fancy of a body and gold plated parts. The Fender ad copy states the pickups were upgraded to American pickups.

The American Deluxe uses the two point trem.

All in all, it is a very nice looking guitar body.

Hmmmmmmmm. Now that I look closer, that body is 4 pieces of ash. Typically, the transparent finish Am Dlx Strats are 2 piece bodies if my memory serves me correctly. The bar code sticker is in the right place though, and so is the indexing hole. MIM bodies have the sticker in the control pocker as I recall. Ask the seller how much the body weighs. A typical Am Dlx Strat body should weigh in at about 4.5 lbs.

Thanks Tele-Bob. Something just looked a little odd and I couldn't put my finger on it. I sent the seller and email Sat AM asking about body weight. No response as of yet.

Been looking at it more, and as much as I had a craving for an Aged Cherry Burst/Sienna Burst, been thinking of maybe a Surf Green. My CFO (wife) has indicated a preference for the Surf Green, which means more acceptance on budget :)

I bought a neck from that seller. It took a couple days to get a reply. I don't think they are open weekends.

If you get backing from your CFO, might as well get something you both like. Seems like Surf Green would be easier to find in a US body too.

How 'bout this one? It's the right weight, the routing is s/s/s, and the price is right!

if you're wanting seafoam green, you could always get one of those 60's MIM RI strats they came out with. i played a couple and really really dug them, i just never have found the need for having 4 strats...

Re: your thoughts about this body

The first body is a deluxe player strat which just came out last year it used to be called the superstrat its MIM.

The 2nd body is from a 50's Classic if its 2001 or newer its probably alder if its 1998-2000 its probably poplar.

seller lists it as a 2001 and alder. Could email him, but not sure if I would get a different response. I do not know enough about Fenders to know if the pics match the desriptopn of year and wood type. (But I can distinguish the different types of Norlin LPs if that matters)

Re: your thoughts about this body

I am seriously thinking about it. Let me finish of this bottle of wine and it will be mine? A warmoth equivalent would be $60 more. So your thoughts?

Funny thing, I posted a Highway Srat link and asked for thoguth in the Strat forum. I visited a local shop with a good supply of used Strats. Only color to consider was the one I posted, as well as one that looked suspectingly similar to one I owned 18 years ago (black on black with a CBS head) I sold it in this town. I tried it and it didn;t play like what I remembered. Was a little rougher shape, but then again who isn't after 18 years. Odd thing was the price was quite high at 1000.
