Here are a few pics of my parts-o-caster I've been working on:

I really like how the two-tone wood came out. What do you guys think?

Nice, but I think you need a fancy pickguard to go w/that fancy top. Maybe a black pearloid. JMO, though. Nice work!

There is very slight forearm contour, barely noticable, but serviceable.

I thought about perloid for the pickguard, but I didn't want anything distracking from the wood. Maybe I'll try one later.

Sorry for the big pictures. Not too good with the digital camera.

Get a wood pickguard that matches the wood on the back. Then top it with knobs like these. :yay

if you have a photo editing program just resize to 600x800 or something like that. normally i would have closed the thread by now (i'm on dial up) but i've got nothing else to do tonight.

it loaded. if you haven't already finished the back i'd say to leave it like that. it would be kinda like ed shamblin's strat, with i always thought was cool.

one more vote for black pearloid.

lookin great man! can't wait to see it finished.

I am definitely leaving the back as-is. Love the natural look.

Also, I was thinking of leaving off the temelo cover plate on the back. Thought it looked kinda cool with the springs exposed. Anyone else do this?

Oil-and-wax wood with black pearl pickguard:

Sweet! You should see it now... many years later, lots of coats of oil and beeswax over the years, the wood is now very rich, deep mahogany red.

I never would have believed black pearl would lok good on dark wood, but I took my artist son's advice and he was right.

Is that a solid or a chambered body?
    Looks good so far.:yay

Here's another example of a low contrast pg/body combo.

White guards can seem to really take over visually. A dark guard sorta lets a nice hunk of wood catch the eye.

Solid and kinda heavy. I haven't weighed it yet.

I love gravity jim's red and black. But I'm still not sold. Thanks for the feedback!!
