    okay, I'm gonna sing, again...

With two geetars, bass, drums, sax, trumpet and me. This Friday.

We're going to use the name "Hot & Bothered" and do standard Motown and Rock & Roll with some belly rubbers thrown in for feeling up episodes. John & Iggy won't let me fall to hard.

What's that song that goes hum, hum, hum, something we used to do?

motown, i've been dying to play in a motown band. hope the gig went good, mine tonight was pretty bad. and then we had the bartender tell us about how we should be gigging. and this is after he told us he has a band but hasn't played out yet, they've been together for three years now...

aaaaaaaaaanyways, hold on, cause i'm coming!

sorry, couldn't resist. we've been watching "standing in the shadows of motown" and have been singing some soul songs as of late. damn what a dvd, and some fine musicians. i think i'm gonna call joan osbourne and see if she'll marry me. it's worth a shot.

Dear chuckoblaster: Yes! That flick tells "The Story". Ups and downs. Left and right. East and West. It accents the dedication and teamwork required to melt into a "oneness" that is a solid, morphed band. All must release their egos, aim towards the goal and be incredibly totally attuned to one another.

The gig was cool. We got rained-out at the park, so moved to some huge, pristine, warehouse (they'd thought ahead). For some extra-cool reason the PA and I arrived far in advance at this cold albatross, and it had a "Baldwin Grand Piano" in it, so Ray set up the PA and I entertained the trickling audience with a Carole King, Joni, Judy, Hiatt, Dylan, Anne Murray, The Band, Hoyt Axton set while the band set up. It was very cold, but I didn't care. I'm in my element in these "emergency situations" where folks don't expect a darned thing so I can "try to shine" without dissappointing anyone. shoot, they liked it! *gleam* I've had several worse days.

    No, Man
It was Della and the dealer and a dog named Jake and a cat named Kalamazoo....

Entirely different than when me and you and a dog named Boo was travelin' and living on the land.

"If that cat could talk, what tales he'd tell,
About Della and the Dealer and the dog as well.
    But the cat was cool,
And he never said a mumblin' word."

(actually I did "Water For My Horses" and "If The Moon Could Talk")

Seem to have lost my lyrics notebook on this excursion.

Annie, you need to have somebody tape a performance and mp3-o-load it! Check out Spose's thread. Too cool to listen to stuff made by virtual friends (hope that doesn't sound too silly )

Re: okay, I'm gonna sing, again...

Aw, mgade, you must understand that I'm not courageous enough to have any sound I make splattered over the universe, these daze. I've tried that before and was NOT pleased with the results.

I love "performing", and the live "inter/ex"-change, but the 'sound of me', is discouraging. Add to that my inability to "drive this team of computer horses", and, welp, Ayma Disappointment (sorry, amigo though some have caught me on dvd/cd lately, blast their hides)

yet if you were here, right now, I could pour my heart out with no concern. Trip the light fandango and all that rot. Ain't it a hoot? We musicians can often be a neurotic lot.

Re: okay, I'm gonna sing, again...

A hoot indeed. People are different. I'd much rather sit in this cave and bang away, surrounded by "this team of computor horses". Though I'm getting more and more "extrovert" about it :)

Still I don't get it, but maybe I'm not supposed to. We 'es in here would know how to appreciate a live performance I believe. It's different from a pro studio recording or an amateur "studio" recording and would be "judged" on it's own premisses. With your experience and the feedback you recieve, it just can't go wrong IMHO.

Thinking about it: A 2 minute video - done with any standard digital still-camera these days - from an acoustic session, would do the trick instantly?? It'd even catch the non-audible magic. It wouldn't take a full "team of computer horses" since there's nothing to edit ;)

That said, I'd love to Fandango
