Twin Reverb use with a mic

Anyone ever use a twin reverb or similar Fender amp to power a mic? I need to PA for an event I am hosting. I will only be making simple annoucemnts, no singing or anything. And I was wondering if I could just get an XLR to 1/4 inch cable and run my mic through the twin. Is this possiable?

Possible, but it'll sound like crap.

You'll want a Low Z/High Z matching transformer, like this one.

Flattest possible response will be with mids on 10, treble on zero, and bass around 1 or 2.

    Watch out for feedback.

Not only possible, it's been a staple of busker-type gigs for years. You'll need to get an XLR-to-1/4 phono jack converter at Radio Shack that also changes the impediance. It's a cheap part. Have fun.

I plugged mics into Twin Reverbs , Bandmasters, Bassmans, Dual Showman, Champs back in the 70's. A lot of the time the vocal mic was plugged into a Fender amp in the early to mid 1970's. Sometimes I plug an SM58 into my 1972 Twin ,turn the reverb all the way up and do pig snorts, lol ! I need to do the on holloween.
