    treble bleed cap and resistor

Since when Fender started to use the treble bleed cap with resistor for Stratocaster vol pot? My `83 RI Strat already had it. I haven`t open older ones, but all new Strats seem to have it?
As I don`t use vol pot that much with Fenders,I desoldered this, and for me the guitar sounds better now,not that trebly anymore, although the highs get lost, when volume is turned down.

I have a 2004 Strat and it does not have it. As far as I know, it's not a standard option.

Re: treble bleed cap and resistor

I've had a few new Strats over the past 20 years ('86-ish '57 reissue, '88-ish Strat Plus, '93 and '96 Am. Std.) and none of them came from the factory with a treble bleed cap.

I don't like treble bleed crcuits at all. I find that they make the guitar sound un-natural when turned down and interact poorly with germanium fuzz pedals when the guitar is turned down.

Count me in on the "bright cap = yuck" contingent.

My 50th Ann Am Series didn't come with one. AFAIK, they never came standard.

If you want to retain the highs when the volume is rolled back, this is my fave way to do it on a Strat:

Re: treble bleed cap and resistor

I tried this special treble cut circuit and it works perfect!!!
    thanks a lot......

I think the main difference is, that the treble cut works on the reduced signal from the volume pot, in this configuration the highs are retained when the volume is rolled back......

is there any detailed explanation with resistor-cap-series-paralell-etc........?
