Jim in Texas has a lot of high-end caps you can get. "High Resolution" caps.

I use 250K pots. They say 500K pots make your guitar brighter, but they also raise the noise floor so 250K pots are a good compromise.

I use .022 caps in my Strats, but my Tele I have a .010 cap in it. It just sounded better that way. I have a stock of .022, .010, and .047 I play around with on each guitar until I find the one that sounds best for that guitar.

I use foil in oil Sprague Vitamin Q .022 caps in my Strats. These are the sweetest I've tried, but regular Orange Drops are still pretty good. Unless you have a really bright or dark Strat I think the .022's and 250k audio taper pots work best.

I was doing a pickguard with a set of Texas Specials over the weekend and used the Strat 50's wiring mod from Tonebender in this thread:-

    http://www.thefenderforum.com/forum/...ad.php?t=10912

The rest of the wiring was standard except for the tone control on bridge instead of middle pickup.

First impression is that this is the best "retain treble when rolling down volume" solution I have tried so far. Way better than any cap/resistor method. JMTC, YMMV, ad naseum...

I like the .1 caps, and I'm a guy who likes a lot of brights. It just seems like actually change the character of the guitar across the sweep of the tone pot whereas the .022s just attenuate the highs. They're practically free, as far as guitar mods go, so get both and .047 while you're at it.
