New Neck - One buzzin' string at one place

I just put a new neck on my Telecaster, restrung, tuned, and adjusted the truss rod after it set fot a couple of days. Yesterday afternoon I was bar-chording to see how I liked the neck when I noticed a buzz. I isolated the buzz to the fifth string at the 12th fret. When i depressed the same string at the 11th, and 13th frets, no buzz. Seems the 13th is high, should I dress it a little?

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure the fret is seated well first.

I made the mistake in my youth of dressing a high fret that wasn't seated!

How do you seat such a fret? A hammer and a block of wood?

New neck, new set of EB 10-46s. Turns out there nothing wrong with the fret at all! It was 2 flat spots on the 5th string right at the 12th & 13th fret, that I did not see until I put the magnifiers on, to look at the frets. The light was hitting the string just right for me to notice the flat spots. They look like somebody squeezed the string with needle nose pliers. Wierd, huh? :%

That sucker plays great now! Thanks for the help!

Great observation. I'll put the hammer away for now :-) Thanks for remembering this thread!

huh. Are you sure you didn't seat the fret without taking the string off first? LOL!

Always good when a plan comes together.

I don't mean to be no smartass, but MY hammer has effect on the intonation! I just keep a'hammering 'till the BOIIINGGG gets a little woody too.
