    My New (used) Tele

I picked up a Muddy Waters Tele.

It was advertised as a "project" at a pretty decent price.

I'd had one before and wished to have another so I gave this one a try.

I was pleasantly surprized by how not beat it was.

Only thing really wrong is a piece missing by the neck route.

I put some barrel knobs on and a 3 ply guard. The neck is great and the pickups sound really good.

I'm pretty happy with it so far.

The ping tuners are beyond crappy. Must be damaged. I was planning on replacing them anyway and already ordered a set of Vintage style Gotoh Locking tuners from Stew Mac.

I was watching that one on ebay, but that missing piece of wood scared me away.

Glad it worked out for you though, enjoy.

    Thanks!

I was prepared to buy a replacement body when I went for it but it seems fine. It doest effect the neck stability at all n the guard covers it.

SFK nice unit! With all due respect to Muddy I really prefer the barrel knobs. Looks very nice.

GY I would lust after that natural beaut as well! So nice!

    Re: My New (used) Tele

I got the tuners in the mail last night. The Gotoh loking tuners are fantastic. Nice n tight. Smoother than the Grovers on my 335. A terrific replacement for the Ping tuners found on many of the Classic series Fenders.

I'm liking this guitar more every day. I'm starting to get the pickups adjusted where I want 'em.

    All's well. :)

Nice! Do you have a full sized pic? The dark guard is cool! Is that black or tortoise?

Looks cool. Those Gotoh vintage lockers are great, aren't they? Same feel, same weight, same tone but they lock. Oh yeah. Can't wait to see that thing in person, too.
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

Man.. I ordered some compensated saddles and some Texas Specials for this but I took some time today n set her up and tweaked the pickups and I'm really loving this thing.

I think I finally found one I'm hangin' on to.

I'll try the Tex. Spcls. But we'll see if they stay.
