Just wanting to find a great craftsman to fix my old Mahogony Guild and maybe put some pretty-sparkly-shinies on it. It was one in a million, factory made. My best friend for 32 years.

My tech is great with electrics, but I wouldn't want him to mess with "Red". He said it probably wouldn't be worth the price. Well, it is to me. I couldn't bear to make it into a planter.

I hope i find one of those "best friend" kinds of guitars someday. Right now though, mine are pretty friendly ;) I too, would hate to see such a guitar be turned into a planter. Hope it gets fixed alright

Thanks, Nazz. It would make a beautiful planter, though.

I could contact Guild and see what they recommend. Or get Charlie Robinson our local hero to check it out before I fill it with potting soil. It's good just hanging on the wall, I suppose, too.

The top is bowing out at the bridge. needs rebracing or gluing or sumpin. Whatcha think?

The repair guy down here at the Fifth String is great. He knows his stuff. He contracts through them. The Fifth String only sells Martin's and Taylors.
A couple of other brands I don't remember, but I could never ever afford...

If you are the original owner the warantee might cover that, Annie.
Even with the wierdness of FMIC owning Guild, I'm close to sure the warantees are still good.

When I had the bridge shaved flat and reglued on my Yairi, I was told it would have been a free warantee fix...
If only.

I live in the same town as Matt Artinger. I've taken some work to him and always gotten superb results. He repaired some cracks in my classical guitar that I would not have trusted with just anybody. Plus the guy builds absolutely gorgeous instruments.

Isn't there some statute of limitations? I mean I bought it new in '71?

The finish is checked and I've played the snot out of it. Still it's mahogany-topped, non-laminated anything that produced a bright and beautiful sound. I was finger picking and flat picking in Pentatonic.

The bottom was always middle of the road, but that's what I wanted to soar over the muddy bass and rhythm. (don't laugh, it's still got an old Barcus p/u in it, which still works also). Yew Gize R. Grate

I've found some cool connections. They understand my emotional bond to a mediocre geetar that really stayed true and delivered forever. Know I love the neck and results of the 3rd fret job. Will treat this old lady gently.

They say they'll do it justice. *smooch*

(ayma sick puppy, this guitar has been my "sea-anchor" forever. I could take it out in any pub, beer joint or concert hall across America and make enough to get wherever I needed to go. To let it "leave home" for a few months is traumatic. It's been my 'insurance policy'. *ulp* What if I become a drowning bag-lady?)
